Appeal

FAQs https://www.lehman.edu/academic-standards/appeals-faq/

  • Once you get dismissed, you have to sit out a semester and complete an academic intervention.
  • The point of this is to help you be more successful when you come back.
  • After completing the academic intervention, you can file an appeal.
  • This is not hard and is very worthwhile.

Once you have completed the academic intervention, here is the place to appeal for readmission

https://lehman.smapply.io/prog/undergraduate_appeals

In your appeal, you will need to write a statement about why you should be readmitted.  Your appeal should include the following:

  • What went wrong
  • What you have been doing while out of college will help you do better (examples: how did it help you mature, realize the importance of college, learn new skills etc.) Mention here if you have taken any college courses elsewhere.
  • What will you do to ensure that you get good grades once you are back at Lehman.

Also, you should be able to talk to your first-year support specialist or an advisor about your appeal by making an appointment in Navigate (http://www.lehman.edu/navigate).  Either the first-year support specialist, I or someone else can read over your statement before you submit it, if you want.

If you have a bursar hold

If you have a bursar’s hold and need to appeal to be able to return to the College, please check with the Bursar’s office to understand why you have a hold, how it can be resolved, and whether you are eligible to set up a payment plan if you need one.

If you are not ready or don’t want to come back

We strongly encourage you to stay in touch.

  • If you feel you need remediation or want a specific career program, you could transfer to a community college. You can transfer back to Lehman when you are ready. In fact, there are Lehman transfer advisors at Hostos, BCC and BMCC.
