A study group is a great way to get to know other students and do better in your classes at the same time! At Lehman we have the CircleIn App to help with this, but that is just a tool. You are the key to making your own group.

Because first year students have multiple classes with the same people you can have a super group that covers multiple classes.

Besides the social elements, the most important things about a study group are that it:

• Helps you get past procrastination
• Makes you accountable to your peers for being prepared
• Clarify what is challenging for you and knowing when you should work with a tutor or learning center.

Study groups are the opposite of groups that try to make it easier by dividing up work or collaborating in ways that are not allowed.

Where can you meet?

Lehman has group study rooms in the library, the Student Life Building, some spaces in different departments, empty classrooms and while the weather is good lots of nice outside spaces. The “faculty dining room” in the music building has large tables and at certain times of day may be pretty quiet (but sometimes there are events there).
